The United States Attacks Iraq to Save Yazidis
The ongoing story is still developing and looks as though it will leads to years of further involvement in Iraq. Though the Islamic State has been been continuing their genocidal onslaught against Christians unabated, it would seem that it has only been the suffering of the obscure religionists the Yazidis that has brought about renewed intervention. I’m convinced this is deliberate and the United States and Britain have no real interest in saving the lives of the hundreds of thousands of Christians who are now faced with extermination at the hands of the vile Islamists, but the internet and social media have compelled them to take action and so they have announced they will try to protect those who are trapped on Mount Sinjar. That is admirable, and I fail to see how anyone could criticise the allies for attacking the militants, but why are they ashamed to even mention that Christians need protection as well? It is extraordinary. There is barely a whisper as to the plight of the most persecuted group in the Middle East, and the demonic crucifixions, beheadings, and widescale butchery that have been brought down on them by these spawn from Hell. There is a powerful article on Archbishop Cranmer’s blog which very poignantly addresses the issue: ‘Canon Andrew White: You Have Got to be Prepared to Die for Your Faith’ . Though the evidence is overwhelming, Western governments need to stop hiding from the truth, and acknowledge that Christians are enduring the worst oppression they have faced since the era of the martyrs at the hands of the Roman state. The fact that Muslims are the persecutors should be irrelevant – anyone who engaged in this type of destruction should be clearly and unambiguously condemned with all the intellectual and moral armoury that civilisation presents. Are we willing to let another Holocaust occur? We said ‘never again’ in the past, but our actions belie our words. The military attacks should be the first in a series of co-ordinated movements across the world to stop these evil-doers continuing their rampage. In each case – whether in Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Kenya, or elsewhere out of a multitude of nations, the fanatics have announced they are at war with the West, and intend to destroy it. Halting them in their tracks protects people of every religion, and of none.
